My Mom: Patsy Lee Allen Marin

Patsy Lee Allen Marin

August 26, 1944 - April 15, 2020

HARRINGTON - Patsy Lee Allen Marin, age 75, passed away at home, unexpectedly, in the arms of her husband, on April 15, 2020. Patsy was born on August 26, 1944 to Ernestine and Willis Allen at Parkview Hospital in Brunswick, Maine.

Her parents split up when she was very young and married other people. Patsy had 3 sisters, Bessie, Cindy and Marie, and 2 brothers Willis and Bobby. She met and established relationships with Willis, Bobby, and Marie when she was an adult, but much to her regret, never re-established contact with her father, Willis. She was predeceased by her son Peter, her sister Bessie, and brother Willis, her mother and stepfather Ernestine and Augustus Delano, and her father Willis Allen.

Patsy was briefly married to George Walter Sr., in the early 1960s. That marriage didn't last, and Patsy went on to marry Alfred Marin Jr. on April 6, 1963. They spent the next 57 years together living, loving each other and caring for a family of 10 children. Patsy loved reading and flowers. All flowers brought her joy, but her favorites were roses and geraniums. Many of her children benefitted over the years with bulbs and cuttings from her gardens. Patsy loved visiting and hearing the news of what was going on in the lives of her friends, as well as the lives of her children and their families. She had a complex relationship with her many children, but she loved them all.

While Alfred is known for his gardens, Patsy was always right there cooking up the vegetables and canning or freezing them for later use. She filled many jars with produce, sauces, fruits, jellies, and jams every season. Patsy was generous and made sure that anyone who was around at mealtime was well fed. Patsy will be missed by her husband, Alfred, her sisters Cindy and Marie, her brother Bobby, her children George, Carolyn, Alfred, Jeanne, David, Bobbi, Lois, Louis, and Kamala, 20 grandchildren, 18 great grand-children as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Patsy will be laid to rest in the Milton Township Cemetery, near her son Peter. A farewell gathering and remembrance of her life will be planned for the future.
